A group of 200 Mai Mai rebels attacked Congo gorilla rangers, killing one and wounding others.
These rangers protect the mountain gorillas that are disappearing rapidly in the Congo. One ranger’s pregnant wife died from complications caused by shock following the attack. The rebels are threatening to kill a family of mountain gorillas if they’re pursued. They stole a lot of valuable equipment the rangers need to protect the gorillas, as well as the rangers’ personal belongings.

Okay, I’ve just gotten caught up on reading your blog, because I must confess I’ve been a little slack lately about finding time to do it.
Through our business in South Africa, I know we make significant donations each year to help conservation efforts in Africa, but I’m not exactly sure of the specifics. I’ll have to ask the hubby about that, but I’m pretty sure we’re contributing to the efforts to preserve primates, and their habitats in more than one country. It’s very important, in our view, as I’m certain it is in yours, too. Keep drawing attention to it, as you have been, and maybe others will join in as well.
Oh, I took the endangered species quiz at the link you gave down below, and apparently I’m going to be the next Marlon Perkins. Hehe. I think I’d rather be Jane Goodall, because as I remember Marlon used to sit in the truck drinking a martini while Jim Fowler was “wrestling the deadly Nile crocodile” or whatever.
Maybe I can only remember the shows where Marlon was a bit older or something. Whatever, just call me Jane. Hehe.
